"Lizzie" attended music school at Concordia's Nazarene before her marriage to "Hal" and wrote songs and played the piano. She was a gentle spirit and much loved by friends and large family.

Final Rites Held For Elizabeth Butler Pilcher
Elizabeth Butler Pilcher passed away at her home in Delphos, March 28, 1957, at the age of 71 years, nine months and 23 days. She was born June 5, 1885, to Richard Thomas Butler and Mary Cummings Butler, the youngest of nine children. Elizabeth attended elementary school near the family home four miles west of Glasco, Kansas, and attended the Nazareth Academy at Concordia, where she studied music.

In 1905 she was united in marriage to Harry Daniel Pilcher in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glasco. He preceded her in death in 1953. To this union were born 14 children, 11 of whom are still living. They resided in Cloud and Ottawa counties and moved to Delphos in 1951.

Elizabeth was a member of the Catholic church, the Altar Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, the North Ottawa County HDU and the Friendly Neighbors Club.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ella Downey and Miss Sadie Butler, both of Glasco; three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Clarkson of Chandler, Oklahoma; Esther and Edna, both of Vista, California; and eight sons, Edward of Delphos, Maurice of Snyder, Texas; Harold, of Marshall, Texas; Raymond, of Prairie Village, Kansas; Lewis, of Anchorage, Alaska; Don of Lawrence, Kansas, Ronald of Mishawaka, Indiana; and Harlan of Delphos. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Grennan officiating. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery at Glasco. Pallbearers were Will Clark, Joe Downey, Peter Deneke, Dick Louthan, Francis Pearson, Duane Pilcher, Earl Pilcher, and Milton Pilcher, all nephews of the deceased.
