Clara Irene Krogman, 95, of Baileyville, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Life Care Center of Seneca. She had been a resident of Life Care since February 2013.

Clara was born January 10, 1925, the second youngest of nine children to Frank and Mary (Osterhaus) Deters. She attended Sacred Heart School through the eighth grade in Baileyville.

As a young woman, Clara worked in many area homes, especially at the time of a birth in the family. Later she was employed as an aide and cook at the hospital in Axtell.

On May 4, 1949, she married Leonard Krogman at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville. Of this union three children were born: Jimmy, Janice, and Bill. They farmed Leonard’s family homestead west of St. Benedict and continued to live there after retiring. Leonard passed away on May 1, 2014, three days before their 65th wedding anniversary.

Clara was a kind, caring woman who valued her role as homemaker and farm wife. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, baking, and embroidery. Clara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a woman of great faith with her rosary always close at hand. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict. Clara was a member and served as an officer on the Altar Society there.

Clara is survived by her daughter, Janice (Carl); three grandsons: Jason, Kevin, and Kyle; one granddaughter, Brie; and seven great- grandchildren. Preceding her in death besides her husband, Leonard, were her sons: Jimmy at the age of 3 in 1953, and Bill at the age of 43 in 2006. Also preceding her in death were all her siblings: Ann Ronnebaum, Marie Stallbaumer, Alvina Stallbaumer, Emma Holthaus, Edward, Aloyious, Joseph, and Francis Deters.

A rosary will be prayed at 2 PM Sunday, March 8, 2020, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM Monday, March 9, 2020, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be given for Nemaha County Agency on Aging, and sent in care of the family.
