Irene Fritzler Shorb, 83, of Billings, passed away at Aspen Meadows, Nov. 16, 2009
She was born Aug. 14, 1926, in Laurel, the daughter of Alex and Katie Fritzler, Sr. She was raised in Laurel and attended Laurel Grade School. She graduated from high school in 1945. She attended night classes at Billings Business College for a period of time. Irene enjoyed baking and cooking, reading her many cookbooks. She also shared her baking with her friends.
She was employed at Ben Franklin Store in Laurel after graduation. She then went to work at Montana Dakota Utilities in 1955, where she worked until she retired in June of 1986.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother, Henry and his wife Lois; sister, Lydia and husband Darrell McGillen; Martha and husband Saunder Hein; brother, Harry and Rose Deines, Alex Jr. and wife Helen; nieces Jo Lynn Fritzler and Rosetta Deines.
She is survived by her husband, Norman L. Shorb; brother Bud Fritzler; three step-granddaughters, Tanya, Shelly, Kassie Balers; three step-grandsons, Josh (Tricia), Justin (Ashley), Danny Shorb; special nieces Donna A. Leuthold, Loretta Lam and Becky Fritzler; nephew Darrell Lee McGillen; stepchildren Terry (Eve), Jim (Wanda) and Ellen (Steve) Bales.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at Smith West Chapel.
