LAUREL — Go Rest, for your work on earth is through. Dad passed peacefully on September 14, 2012.
Dad's journey began February 21, 1930, born to Alex and Katie Fritzler, the youngest of eight children all whom have passed before him. Dad was raised in Laurel and as he would always say, "I was born in Laurel and I will die in Laurel" ...your wish was granted.
After graduating high school, dad was drafted into the US Army and served as a Military Police Officer in Korean War. Oh, the stories told of Nance France and his travels were frequent, and changed a little with every story, but loved hearing about them. Returning to Laurel after four years in the military, he met a princess (mom) as he drove the convertible car where mom was a coronated princess from high school, which lead to dating, and they married in 1957. Dad began building his first home in Laurel and was fortunate to work for a lumberyard in completing his home. Settling in their new home, they started a family, and to this union three children were born. Dad was employed 35 years at Cenex Refinery, working as a Maintenance Supervisor. He retired in 1992. Their hopes of traveling after retirement soon faded as Mom's health declined and being the honorable and dedicated man, cared for mom until her death in 2009. Dad stood strong by his wedding vows, "to love and to cherish, in sickness and in health, until death do us part."
Preceding Dad in death is his wife, Arlene; his parents, Alex and Katherine; sisters Martha, Lydia, Mary and Irene; brothers Alec, Harry and Hank. Surviving Dad is his son Dean Fritzler; daughters Becky Fritzler, Connie (Craig) Jones; grandchildren Sarah (Jared) Dillon, Matthew (Jessica) Jones, Rachel (Jeremy) Bakken; great-grandchildren Sylas, Isabelle, Lila, and Keaton; and grand DOG ... Bailey; nieces Debbie Darrah, Donna Leuthold, Loretta Lam; nephews Ron (Nickie) Foos, Dick Fritzler, Jerry (Laurie) Fritzler, Daryl Lee McGillan; brother-in-law, Norman Shorb.
We would like to extend a very heartfelt THANK YOU to the staff at Tender Nest Assisted Living, Laurel Mont., for their caring, compassion, dignity and love given to Dad during his residence there, you are all honey's! To Julie Goggins, RN at Tender Nest Assisted Living, you were our advocate, our strength to our family, we love you and thank you beyond words. And also to Ray Lynn from Rocky Mountain Hospice, Thank You.
Dad, our wish for you is to be greeted with open arms by our Heavenly Father, and by his side—Mom.
Services will be held at Smith's Funeral Chapel in Laurel, Thursday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. with interment in Laurel Cemetery.
