Actor. He will best be remembered for playing the role of 'Felix Leiter' in the classic James Bond film, "Goldfinger" (1964), which also starred Sean Connery and Gert Frobe. He is also known for the role of paleontologist 'Dr. Matthew Roney' on the BBC television series, "Quatermass and the Pit" from 1958 to 1959, and 'Doctor Keegee' in the Stanley Kubrick film, "Lolita" (1962). Born Cecil Yekuthial Linder in Galicia, Poland, he later moved to Canada as a child and was raised in Timmins, Ontario. During his early days in Canada, he worked as a radio announcer for the CKGB-FM radio station in Timmins, Ontario. Through his work as an announcer, he became well-known for his voice and distinguished accent. This enabled him to seek an acting career. His career led him to work in several countries, including Canada, the United States and in England. He appeared in countless roles in film, television, and on stage in a career that spanned some forty years, usually in the role of a bad guy or good guy. He also worked as a narrator and did voice-over work for cartoons and video games. He made his film debut playing the role of 'Captain Dan Carver' in the Western film, "Flaming Frontier" in 1958. By this time he had already appeared in several television guest roles including, "Space Command,", "The Secret Storm," "Playbill," "Scope," "The Edge Of Night," "It's The Law," "The Kaiser Aluminum Hour," "Armstrong Circle Theatre," "Studio One In Hollywood," "On Camera," "Hawkeye And The Last Of The Mohicans," "Suspicion," "Folio," "BBC Sunday-Night Theatre," "Television Playwright," and "Quatermass and the Pit." In 1958, while in England working on the "Quatermass and the Pit," television series, he became an understudy for Hollywood actor Paul Douglas, who at the time was in London, England, playing the role of 'Captain Queeg' in the BBC live television broadcast of "The Caine Mutiny Court Martial." During this Paul Douglas became seriously ill and he had to leave the role. In turn, as Paul Douglas' understudy, Linder took on the role of 'Captain Queeg' and did the live performance in less than 24 hours' notice. For this role, he won rave reviews. Sadly, Paul Douglas passed away the following year. He also appeared in the role of 'Franklin S. Hardiman' in the stage play, "In The Matter Of J. Robert Oppenheimer." The play, based on the life of the American theoretical physicist and professor of physics had a successful run on Broadway from March 6, 1969, to April 20, 1969, and June 26, 1969, to September 27, 1969. His other films include, "Strike In Town: Revised" (1956), "Is It A Woman's World?" (1956), "Subway In The Sky" (1959), "SOS Pacific" (1959), "Salt On The Earth" (1961), "The Verdict" (1964), "The Scribe" (1966), "Do Not Fold, Staple, Spindle, Or Mutilate" (1967), "Zabriskie Point" (1970), "The Sloane Affair" (1973), "A Touch Of Class" (1973), "Sunday In the Country" (1974), "The Clown Murders" (1976), "Something's Rotten" (1979), "An American Christmas Carol" (1979), "Atlantic City" (1980), "Deadly Eyes" (1982), "Heavenly Bodies" (1984), "Christmas Eve" (1986), "On Thin Ice: The Tai Babilonia Story" (1990), and "Hitler's Daughter" (1990).
