In 1941 he became the second president of Toyota Motors, remaining the head of the company until his resignation in 1950. He died two years later. He was 2nd chairman of the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan. Born the son of a well-known inventor, his father was the founder of Toyoda Automatic Loom Works in 1926. Studying engineering, he attended the University of Tokyo. After graduation, he began working in the family business. He traveled to England working with Platt Brothers and Company and later the United States to further his education in manufacturing. Not only did he have inventive skills, but he had management skills. In 2018, he was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame.
