Wife of George Crouch, mother of seven girls. three know and 4 unidentified, but expected to have moved to Jackson County with the expanded family. Unsure of Nancy's death, but she died between 1870 and 1880 while living on the James Knight farm in Devers Cove, living with daughter Rebecca Williams and her husband Jacob Williams. She is buried in one of the graves marked only by field stones located inside the cemetery. She is the daughter of Thomas Carlton and Mary Land Carlton of Boomer, Wilkes County, North Carolina. Thomas Carlton is a Revolutionary War Veteran of the 6th Virginia Regiment , surviving a wound from the Battle of Brandywine. and Mary Land is the sister of Rev. War General Thomas Sumter, the "little gamecock" of South Carolina.
