Jocelyn Campbell Patrick Proby was the son of Colonel Douglas James Proby and Lady Margaret Frances Hely Hutchinson. He married, firstly, Elisabeth Angelique Kerr, daughter of William Archibald Hastings Kerr, on 16 August 1930. He married, secondly, Katherine Simpson, daughter of Lt.-Col. Hugh Simpson, on 3 January 1969.
