Rock Musician. He was the lead singer and a co-founder of the seminal and greatly influential punk rock band "The Ramones", which he formed in 1974 with guitarist John "Johnny Ramone" Cummings and bassist Douglas "Dee Dee Ramone" Colvin. They later added drummer Thomas "Tommy Ramone" Erdelyi to complete the band. His distinctive vocals and his sun glass and leather jacket-wearing persona made him one of the most recognizable figures in punk rock. He would record fourteen albums with the band, and sing on a number of songs that became punk rock classics, such as "Pinhead", "Blitzkrieg Bop", "I Wanna Be Sedated" and "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker". He passed away at age 49 in April 2001 after battling lymphoma for seven years.
