Joseph Vincent Dust, age 90, of Mobile, peacefully departed this life on December 14, 2011. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sophia (Niebrugge) Dust and second wife, Mercedes (Sharp, Crowley) Dust, daughter, Carolyn Dust and grandson, Sean Estros. Dr. Dust is survived by his sons, William R. Crowley, Jr. of Tomball, Texas, Robert J. Dust of Midlothian, Virginia, Kenneth D. Crowley of Mobile, Patrick M. Crowley of Spanish Fort, and Thomas J. Crowley of Eight Mile; by his daughters, Mary Kay Hamilton of Dallas, Texas and Jo Ann Vaughan of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; 17 grandchildren; several great grand-children, and a great great grandchild. Dr. Dust retired from the University of South Alabama as a professor in Civil Engineering after a successful career in engineering. He was born February 7, 1921 in Effingham, Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois, with advanced degrees from Southern Methodist University and Mississippi State University. He was a WWII Army veteran. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, December 20th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mobile, Alabama.
