Resident of City for 64 Years, Dies
Ferdinand Christoffersen, 91, died this morning at the home of his daughter Mrs. Hugh Bunnell of North Washington avenue. He had been in ill health for a year and a half.
He was born Nov. 30, 1864, at Sjaeland, Denmark, where he lived until he came to Ludington in 1892. Mr. Christoffersen was married Dec. 13, 1890, to Marie Petersen at Copenhagen, Denmark.
A contractor and builder by trade, Mr. Christoffersen constructed many buildings and homes in Ludington and many of the houses ans barns in Summit and Riverton townships. An active member of Bethany Lutheran church, he was in charge, of finishing the interior of that church. He retired at the age of 82.
Mr. Christoffersen was a member of the Danish Brotherhood No. 51.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Bonnell and Mrs. Atlanta Kistler of Ludington, Mrs. Ebba Upthegrove of Kewanee, Ill., and Mrs. Herdis Fritsch of Chicago; three sons, K.Viggo and Ferdinand, of Ludington, and Einar of Scottville; two sisters, Mrs. Susanne Andre of Pasadena, Calif., and Mrs. Elna C. Schumacher of Ludington; three brothers, George of Ludington, Soren of Manistee and Walter of Astoria, Ore.; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death in October, 1953, by his wife.
