Raymond “ Ray” Christian, 81, of Big Spring passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 in a local hospital. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Myers & Smith Chapel with Brother Doug Shelley, pastor of Eastside Baptist Church officiating.
He was born March 17, 1934 in Gorman, Texas to Theresa and Thomas Christian. He married Mary Collins in 1967 in Pecos, Texas. He moved to Howard County in 1986. He was a retired truck driver and a veteran of the United States Army. His passion was spending time with his children and grandchildren and fishing.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Christian of Big Spring; four daughters: Pattie Wells and husband Tommy of Ranger; Amanda Christian and David Fort of Big Spring; Cynthia Christian and Ruby Austin of Big Spring; Merri Etta Rodriguez and husband Jr of Big Spring; one son: Claud Christian and wife Maggie of Big Spring; one brother: Harold Christian and wife Richie of Fort Worth; three sisters: Mettie Makowski and husband Henry of Luling; Ilaray Shaw and husband Ray of Kennedy; Cynthia Cole and husband Calvin of West Columbia; fifteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
