Eugene, age 96, was the son of Albert and Laura (Beasterfeld) Pägeler and was born at home in the Wells Creek Community in rural Wabaunsee County. He married Mary Jean Dewey on August 30, 1946, in Alma. He was a 16-year colon cancer survivor. He is survived by his wife, his children, Dennis Pageler and Polly Oswald, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Norma Jean Allen and Nadine Habel, and his grandson, Zachary Pageler. Funeral services and burial were held in Wamego City Cemetery.
