Amelia Stark, beloved sister and aunt, died on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at Franciscan Care Center. Amelia was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on February 5, 1911, daughter of the late Phillip and Sophia (Weigandt) Staerkel. She moved to Appleton to work in her brother’s grocery store. Amelia was later employed at Thrivent Financial for 24 years, retiring in 1968. She was a longtime member of First English Lutheran Church. On October 7, 1944, Amelia married Carlton F. Stark, who preceded her in death on February 3, 1982. She is survived by her sister, Anna Potter and numerous nieces and nephews. Amelia was preceded in death by her 6 brothers: Julius, John, George, Felix, Henry, and Theodore Staerkel. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, December 4, 2004, at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 326 East North Street, Appleton, with Rev. Paul Svingen officiating. Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Friday, December 3, from 6 until 8 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. The interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. The family would like to thank the staff at Franciscan Care for the loving care, support and honor they showed to Aunt Millie and her family. Amelia will be cherished in our memories.
