Mrs. Emilie Maertz, 84, of 30 S. Hiawatha Circle, died Thursday morning at Morningside Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
The fomer Emilie Dietz was born in Russia, Dec. 24, 1894, a daughter of the late Gottlieb and Catherine Maertz Dietz. She came to Sheboygan in 1912.
On May 30, 1914, she married John Maertz at Trinity Lutheran Church. He died in 1973.
Mrs. Maertz worked for the National Tinsel Co. in Manitowoc for 12 years, retiring in 1963. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Surviving are three sons, John of Sanders, Ariz., Alfred of. Sheboygan and Ralph of Owensboro, Ky.; five daughters, Mrs. Gilbert (Hilda) Elwing of Milwaukee, Mrs. Walter (Eileen) Wilbert, Mrs. Kenneth (Annette) Wilsing and Mrs. Gladys Suykerbuyk, all of Sheboygan, and Mrs. James (Constance) Stanley of Western Springs, III.; 19 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, and three brothers, John G. Dietz of Sheboygan, Emmanuel Dietz of Milwaukee and John Dietz . of Kohler. Two grandsons, a brother and a sister preceded her in death. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Nickel-Lippert Funeral Home, the Rev. Edwin C. Bek, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
