Bill Thiele Rites Will be Wednesday
Funeral services for William T. (Bill) Thiele, age 51, will be held at 3:00 Wednesday afternoon in the Jorden Funeral Home. The Rev. Phonce Mitchell and Father James 0'Shea will officiate. Interment will be in McKee Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. tonight at the Jorden Funeral Home.
Mr. Thiele, the postmaster at Hallowell, died at 1:40 a.m. yesterday in the Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital, Tulsa, where he had been a patient since May 9. He was born Oct. 7, 1925, at Pocahontas, Ark., the son of Will and Mary E. Sumner Thiele. He moved with his parents to the Hallowell area when a child. He was married to Thelma Wofford April 6, 1947, at Oswego.
Mr. Thiele was employed for a time as a county road maintainer operator, then worked at the Parsons Ordinance Plant, Spencer Chemical Co. and Vickers before becoming the Hallowell postmaster in July of 1959. He attended the Methodist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War Two and was a member of Keith Reeves Post No.3, American Legion, of Columbus and the Oswego VFW Post.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Thelma Thiele; three sons, Tom Thiele of Columbus, John Thiele and Jim Thiele, both of the home; his father, Will Thiele, of Altamont; two grandchildren; and three halfsisters, Mrs. Rosie Skimahorn, Pocahontas, Ark., Mrs. Martha Price, Albany, Ore., and Mrs. Kate Frint, Longview, Wash. He was preceded in death by his mother, one sister and four halfbrothers.
