Mrs. Christina Haist Passes Away Sunday Night at Old Homestead
Mrs. Christina Haist, aged 86 years, 5 months and 15 days, died at the home of her sons, Rudolph and Christian Haist, three and one-half miles southeast of Reed City [Michigan], Sunday night. The deceased was enjoying her usual good health until Saturday morning, when she suffered a stroke of apoplexy from which she never regained consciousness. Only last Thursday she entertained the Ladies' Aid society of the Hersey Evangelical church.
The deceased was born Aug. 4, 1824, at Wittlinsweiler Fraenden Statt, Wurtenburg, Germany. In 1881 her husband died, leaving her with eight children. In 1887 she, with her family, came to America and soon after settled on the farm where they have since made their home. Three daughters and three sons survive-Jacob, Rudolph and Christian Haist, Mrs. Jacob Wirth of Evart, Mrs. George Reichert and Mrs. Andrew Klump of near Reed City.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon in the Hersey Evangelical church, the pastor, Rev. J. F. Kirn, officiating. Interment will be made in the Hersey cemetery.
Mrs. John Ott of Huntington, Ind., sister of the deceased, is expected to be in attendance at the funeral.
