Myrtle's mother died when she about 9 years old, and her father married (2nd) Lavinia "Viney" Harrison (1885-1920) by whom 4 more children were born. When Viney died in 1920, her father married (3rd) to Temple Stalls (1887-1971), the widow Taylor.
When she was still a teenager, Myrtle met Carl Rosenbaum, the only son of Jewish merchant Julius Rosenbaum and his wife, Addie Jenkins of Tarboro. The couple wed in March 1921, when she was 20 and Carl 29. Her husband followed his father in the retail trade, working for the now defunct, Rosenbloom-Levy Company, who had a store in Tarboro.
The couple would have two children:
* Myrtle "Winifred" Rosenbaum PLUNKETT (1921-2013)
* Carl David Rosenbaum, Jr. (1927-2006)
In 1930, the couple built a modest cottage a few blocks east of his parent's house, on Park Avenue, which still stands today (ca. 2008). About this time, her 25-year old single sister was living with them, working as a trained nurse in Tarboro.
After 24 years of marriage, Myrtle became a widow at age 45 when her husband died in 1946. She never remarried and passed in 1996 at age 94.
