Wesley David Turnbull passed away at his home in this city on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1943, from the effects of a heart ailment, at the age of 78 years.
Mr. Turnbull was born in Indiana in the year 1865. He came to Sawyer county at an early age, beginning work in the logging operations which were so numerous at that time. He worked for many years as a woodsman and as logging came to an end, he became a guide for fishermen on our many lakes. He owned and operated a resort for nine years.
Survivors are his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Joel Jefson of Westby, WI, Mrs. Elling Haugan and Mrs. John Jeter of Hayward, Mrs. Mary Fadden of Santa Monica, CA, Mrs. OJ Hanson of Waitepark, MN; four sons, Chester of the US Naval Reserve at Traverse City, MI, Harry Cornick of Santa Monica, CA, Richard of Milwaukee, Emery of Hayward.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1 from the residence and at 2 from the Congregational Church, Rev. RJ Barnes officiating. Interment in the Spider Lake Cemetery. Anderson Funeral Home was in charge.
