Eugene "Gene" Godfrey Winter, 91, of Greeley, formerly of Eaton, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Windsong at Northridge.
He was born January 28, 1930 in Greeley, Colorado to Godfrey & Cornelia (Giesick) Winter. On February 14, 1950, Gene married LaVerna Lebsack in Greeley and they enjoyed 69 years together until she passed away on June 28, 2019. He farmed his entire life until retiring in 1991. Gene enjoyed fishing, Dutch hops, and watching Eaton High School sports.
He is survived by his sons, Robert (Judy) Winter and LeRoy Winter, his daughters, Diane Ditter and Debi (Doug) Allen, a brother, Leslie Winter, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, LaVerna Winter, his parents, Godfrey & Cornelia Winter, his step-father, William Mitzel, a daughter-in-law, Kathryn Winter, a son-in-law, Leonard Ditter, and 2 great grandsons.
Memorial service to celebrate Gene's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Family will greet friends at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service on Wednesday.
