Soldier: Harman Arlinghouse
Other possible spellings:
First name: Harmon/Herman; no indication of how he was buried as "Homer" Arlinghouse
Surname: Arlinghaus

Corporal, Unit L 5th Regiment Iowa Calvary

Due to his enrollment as a Union soldier we know he came to America prior to 1860. His parents and sibling were found Washington Township, Jackson County, Iowa, Post Office of Bellevue, in 1860. Earlier census and immigration records have not been found.

We are able to link him to his parents due to records of his mother's pension application on 21 March 1864, and approved application records with Certificate of Death of Solider issued 6 November 1867. Record indicates that he was on his way home when he died in a hospital at Cairo, Illinois.

His parents and sibling were born in Oldenburg, Prussia, Germany, suggesting the same for him.
