Melvin A. Wittkopp, age 85 of Greenville, passed away Thursday July 1, 2021 at Mercy Health in Muskegon. He was born in Greenville on March 15, 1936, the son of Arthur and Mabel (Shurlow) Wittkopp. Melvin was a graduate of Greenville High School (class of 1955) and the owner of B & W TV Sales & Service in Greenville for many years. He was married to Barbara K. Bowers on May 7, 1960 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where they remained active in the church and formed many life-long friendships, including long-time members of a special church "Supper Club" group. In addition to serving on the Mt. Calvary Board of Trustees, Melvin loved living in the Greenville community, enjoyed Rotary's summer music in the park, and was an avid fan of the Lawrence Welk show. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara; sons, John and Thomas; brother, Elon Wittkopp; and sister, Phyllis Martin. He is survived by his daughter, Sherrie (Sam) Tower of Norton Shores; grandchildren, Katie (Ryan) Bryker of Norton Shores, Adam Tower of Mt. Pleasant, and Christina Wittkopp of Greenville; his brother-in-law, William Linebaugh of Greenville; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Higgins of Greenville, Lynda Wittkopp of Florida, Sandra (Carl) Stephens of Lake City, Nancy Buckley of Howard City; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 10, 2021 at 11 AM at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with his pastor, Rev. Jeffrey M. Wilhelm officiating. A gathering in the Fellowship Hall will immediately follow. Private burial will be in East Montcalm Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church
