Thuy Hoang, beloved mother, wife, daughter and sister, passed away peacefully at home in Oxnard on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, with her family by her side.

She was born Oct. 3, 1960, in Saigon, Vietnam, and came to the United States in 1976 with her mom and two sisters to be reunited with her family, who had come one year earlier. She was the oldest of three daughters. She became a naturalized citizen of the Untied States in 1982.

After graduating from high school in Arroyo Grande, she went to California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and earned a degree in business. She worked in retail business until her marriage to Eric Ngo, the love of her life, on June 4, 1988.

In 1989, they moved to Eric's hometown of Oxnard, where Thuy worked for Abex Corp., and then for the Oxnard Harbor District in 1995, which, she often said, gave her the best job she'd ever had. She remained working for the district until her final day with us.

Thuy loved her family and friends and believed strongly in helping others. She was a courageous woman who had inspired everyone around her to become a better person. Her vibrant personality and beautiful smile always brightened up the room wherever she went. Most importantly, she valued time spent with her family, especially the tradition of celebrating birthdays and holidays at home. She will always be a part of us, and we will cherish our many memories of her.

She will be deeply missed by all.

She is survived by her husband, Eric Ngo; sons, Ethan Ngo, Theodore Ngo and James Ngo; her mom, Hoa Hoang; and sisters, Minh Hoang and Umily Hoang.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary in Oxnard. Visitation will follow.

A funeral service will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Garcia Mortuary.

Interment will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura.
