Mrs. Josephine Marie Ertel, 72, of 455 North East St, Tipton, succumbed at her home at 6:15 p.m. Monday after an
illness of several months.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday from St. John's Catholic. Church with Rev. Jerome Walski officiating and burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday at the Young-Nichols Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Ertel was born in Oak Forest, Franklin Co., Ind. on Nov. 10, 1894, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Ripberger) Cook and resided in Brookville until her marriage, Nov. 28. 1916 in that city to Edward Ertel, when the couple moved to Tipton. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and of the Rosary Society.

Surviving in addition to the, husband are five children, Mrs. Frank Moore, Tipton; Mark Ertel, Hagerstown; Mrs. Robert Cage, Tipton; Mrs. Jack (Joan) Stodgell, of Lafayette; James Ertel, of Gary; Two sisters, Mrs. Harry Glass, of Sarasota, florida; and Mrs. Robert Malloy, of Indianapolis. also three brothers survive, Roman Cook, of Englewood, Florida and Arnold and William Cook, of Indianapolis and also 23 grandchildren.
