On January 14, 1951, Dorothy married John Edward Weitzel and the couple made their home in the Timnath, Colorado area where they operated a dairy, fed cattle and farmed. They had three children: Linda, Tom and Sharon. Dorothy took pride in being a homemaker and raising her family.
She was a lifelong member of the Timnath Presbyterian Church, and served in the choir and on various committees over the years.
Dorothy will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her passions included flower arranging, cooking and baking, and cheering on her beloved Denver Broncos.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Weitzel on August 23, 2004; and her bother Reinie Blehm, brother Wilbur Blehm and sister Ruby (Blehm) Roth.
Survivors include her three children: Linda Wells of Holdrege, Nebraska, Tom Weitzel (Cindy) of Overton, Nebraska, Sharon Popp (Nicholas) of Carlsbad, California; grandchildren: Nikki Wells of Urbandale, Iowa, Andrew Weitzel (Shari) of Eustis, Nebraska, Jon Wells (Kari) of Elm Creek, Nebraska and Alex Yount (Connor) of Fremont, Nebraska; great-grandchildren Dallas Weitzel, Aubrey Weitzel and Sam Weitzel of Eustis, Nebraska, Mazie Wells of Elm Creek, Nebraska, Grant Yount and Max Yount of Fremont, Nebraska and Nickolas Wells-Carstens and Christopher Wells-Carstens of Urbandale, Iowa; Brother-in-law Jim Weitzel of Peoria, Arizona; Sisters-in-law: Alvinia Blehm of Loveland, Colorado, Darlene Blehm of Fort Collins, Colorado and Mary Ratterree of The Woodlands, Texas.
