Bertha Selma Warns was born on Nov. 19, 1909, near Wentworth to Peter and Dora (Unzelman) Warns. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Rutland High School. She received a teaching certificate from Eastern State Normal School (Dakota State University) and taught for four years in rural schools and at Farnklin and Winfred. She married Henry Anderson at Wentworth in 1932. She taught school at Gracevale Colony for 14 years. She retired from teaching and worked in the dietary department at Madison Community Hospital. She also volunteered as a Senior Companion.
She was a lifetime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include a son, Clair (Gayla) of Madison; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; three sisters; her husband, Henry in 1972; and a son, Clifford in 1999.
