Mrs. Theresa Winkers Eiling whose death occurred Sunday, June 14, at the age of 78 years, was born in Hanover, Germany, May 22, 1853; a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Winkers. She came to United States in 1868 with her parents, when 15 years of age and settled near Highland. She has been a resident of Iowa County since that time. On November 22, 1881, she was united in marriage at Highland to Henry Eiling, who preceded her in death four years ago, and they established their home at Centerville where they resided since, Eight children were born to them of whom six are now living as follows: Mrs. John Pepper, Dodgeville; Miss Agnes Eiling, Lancaster; Mrs. Crescentia Martens, Platteville; Mrs. Bernard Kroll, Dry Bone; Mrs. Ernest Rasque, of Platteville; and Bernard H. Eiling of Mineral Point. One daughter, Mary , died at the age of seven years and another, Mrs. Elizabeth Higgins, who died about five years ago. Besides the children, Mrs. Eiling is survived by one sister, Mrs. Anna Kotte of Highland, and sixteen grandchildren. Mrs. Eiling died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bernard Kroll at Dry Bone, on June 14, 1931 as a result of a six weeks illness. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Catholic church of St. Anthony of Padua of Highland of which she was a member. Rev. Fr. Arentz officiating.
