OBITUARY: "Teutopolis Press" - October 19, 1944.

Wayne Lampkin Gillespie, son of Kenneth and Mae Gillespie was born in Watson Township December 14, 1918. He departed from this life Oct. 1, 1944 at the age of 25 years, 9 months and 16 days. His demise was instantaneous, the result of a car collision.

Wayne had spent his entire life in this community, among his many friends who will miss his smiling face and cheery words. He was ever thoughtful of others, always leading a helping hand to his family and especially to his grandmother.

He leaves to mourn their loss: his father and mother; four brothers: Delbert of Detroit, Michigan; Harold, Gene and Robert at home; three sisters: Mrs. Vera Repking of Effingham; Velda Mae of Kankakee and Virginia at home; also one brother-in-law P.F.C. All B. Repking in the service somewhere in the South Pacific; two grandmothers: Mrs. Alice Gillespie of Mattoon; Mrs. Maude Sharp of Effingham; two nieces and one nephew; several aunts, uncles and cousins and a host of friends. One brother, Junior, preceded him in death.

Pall bearers were: Norbert and Ralph Arnold, Lester Webb, Bob Stephens, Henry Bierman and Ralph Loy.

Flower girls were: Laura Repking, Luella Repking, Lucille Stephens, Lorene Loy, Lola Miller, Dorothy Braun, Joan Henderson, Virginia Loy, Jewel Coaley. Helen Mitchell, Caliene Megee, Alice Gillespie and Ula Gillespie.
