Passed away November 2, 1994 at Memorial Healthcare Center in Owosso. Funeral services were held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Chesaning on November 5 at 10 a.m. Rev. Fr. Jeffrey Donner officiated with burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Chesaning. Friends were able to call at Walker-Martin Funeral Home after 6 p.m. on November 3, all day on November 4, and at the church on November 5 after 9 a.m. Scripture Service was held on November 4 at 7 p.m. Rosary was at 8:30 the same day. Mrs. Walser was born December 16, 1916 in Owosso to Albert and Frances (Shada) Lacina. She lived most of her life in the Chesaning area and married Bernard Walser on November 21, 1940. He survives her. She was a member of Our Lady Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Bernard; eight children, David and Ora Ann Walser, Chapman, Kansas; Gloria and Frank Bates, Edward and Joan Walser, Joseph and Mary Lou Walser, Thomas and Patricia Walser, John and Linda Walser, all of Oakely, Janice and Michael Thurston, of St. Charles; James and Michelle Walser, Oakley, two step-children, Ann and Charles Bishop, Owosso; Richard and Elsie Walser, Perry Lakes; 35 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 6 sisters, Mary Dennis, Owosso; Anna and Frank Smalley, Owosso, Blanche and Ron Jones, Lansing; Sr. Alice Lacina, Adrian; Joe and Aggie Cerveny, Owosso; Helen Stone, Perry; 2 brothers, Robert and Noreen Lacina and John Lacina, all of Owosso. She was predeceased by one sister and one brother.
Sophie also had another brother, Mr. Albert L. Lacina (Jr.) born 10-Jan-1914 who married Helen G. Nelson on February 28, 1935 and Albert predeceased Helen 18-Jun in 1944.
