Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2022 with a Memorial service at 11 a.m. at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery following the service.
Marty Angier was born near rural Middletown, Iowa on December 14, 1931 to Albert and Edna Zurborg.
She attended a one room schoolhouse that encompassed all grade levels. After graduating from Denmark High School she worked at Schaeffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, Iowa.
She met Lyle Angier on a blind date set up by her older brother Carl who worked with Lyle at a local dairy. Carl told Lyle, "My dad has a daughter he's trying to marry off" and Lyle said, "I'm not getting married until after I go to college!" (Carl says "famous last words")
Marty and Lyle were married April 27, 1951 in Burlington, Iowa. A move to Des Moines so Lyle could attend Drake University was necessary and many memorable experiences living at the married student trailer court ensued.
A daughter and a son joined this little family and made it complete. Family was everything to her, and she was our compass and guide to life.
She was a stubborn fighter- and met any challenge that came her way head on, passing along many "family mottos" along the way.
Marty was a volunteer at Living History Farms for many years, and a member of Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) sisterhood.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARL Animal Rescue League of Iowa or to EveryStep Grief and Loss Services.
