After leaving the Yugoslav People's Army (the JNA) on April 6, 1992 (when the JNA attacks on Sarajevo began), he joined the formation of a unit in the Velešići settlement. It will be remembered that he and Safet Zajko (also a legendary army commander), liberated the Žuč hill. Šehović was a trained officer, he was a lieutenant in the JNA, he worked in Sarajevo in the Marshal Tito barracks. He was always with his comrades on the front lines, participating in all the battles fought by his units. On the day of his death, 40 days after the death of Zajko, he felt that his death was approaching.
He was buried in the harem of Ali Pasha's mosque in Sarajevo next to Safet Zajko. He was posthumously awarded the highest award "Golden Lily" and "Hero of the 92-95 Defense War," and a street in Sarajevo bears his name.
