Mrs. Emma Louise Meyer was born on July 27, 1879 near Scribner in Dodge county, the daughter of Carl and Bertha Kuester Ahrndt. She was baptized on Aug. 31, 1879 at Immanuel Lutheran church in Beemer and confirmed in the Christian faith on March 29, 1896 at the Evangelical Lutheran church near Scribner.
She was united in marriage to John Meyer on Febr. 23, 1899 in West Point, Nebr. Their union in marriage was blessed of God with the birth of 11 children, five sons, Adolph, Ernest, Herman, Walter and Lawrence and six daughters, Gezena, Christena, Meta, Johanna, Grace and Julia.
She lived in the following areas over her years of life, Scribner, Crofton, Nebr., Wautauga, S.D., Rose, Nebr., and then in Bassett for the past 28 years. She had been a resident of the Hillside Manor since 1968.
Emma Meyer died at the Rock County Hospital last Sunday, April 29, 1973 at the age of 93 years, nine months and two days.
She was preceded in death by her husband, four children, her parents, five brothers and two sisters. Her sister, Johanna died April 28 and her funeral service was held May 1 in West Point, Nebr.
She is survived by four sons, Adolph of Salem, Ore., Herman of Portland, Ore., Walter of Bassett, Lawrence of Grass Valley, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Meta) Mandigo of Bismarck, N.D., Mrs. John (Johanna) Hilsendager of Morristown, S.D., Mrs. Frank (Julia) Ammon, Newport; 24 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and by other relatives and friends.
