Gresham resident Herman Fredrick Meyer, 98, died Thursday, Feb. 26, at Fairlawn Good Samaritan Health Center.
A visitation will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, March 6, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 39901 Pleasant St., Sandy. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Herman was born March 5, 1910, in Crofton, Neb. to John C. and Emma L. (Ahrndt) Meyer.
On Sept. 13, 1936, he married Wilma D. Scharich in Shields, N.D. They settled in Fishtail, Mont., and later moved to Portland in the mid-1940's. In 1964, they settled on their berry farm in Sandy. They moved to Gresham in 1989.
Herman worked at the shipyards and with Sunshine Dairy. He retired in 1971.
His granddaughter, Kristi Meyer, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife: son, Don Meyer of Gresham; daughter, Debra Pyryt of Sandy; brother, Lawrence Meyer of Auburn, Calif.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
