Author, Composer. She was a 20th century Vietnamese Cải Lương playwright and songwriter, who was born with the name Quản Thị Minh Nguyệt in An Thạnh. Of the two most famous female Vietnamese stage writers, she was not the first yet she is credited with 200 plays, 100 songs, and dozens of scripts for films. At the age of 33 in 1954, she formed the Nam Chau Viet Drama troupe. During the ten-year period of 1963 to 1973, she wrote most of her plays including "Mùa Thu Lá Bay," "Cánh Chim Bạt Gió," "Hoa Đồng Cỏ Nội," "Mạnh Lệ Quân," "Lâm Sanh Xuân Nương," "Lục Vân Tiên," "Đường Nào Lên Thiên Thai" and "Qua Cầu Đắng Cay." She worked with famous Cải Lương playwrights such as Hoa Phượng, Hà Triều, Nguyễn Phương, Phương Ngọc, and Thế Châu. In addition to her writing career, she also wrote novels, short stories and vọng cổ songs. Following the reunification of Vietnam on July 2, 1976, she continued her career and went on to write "Giọt Mưa Thu." Due to health issues, she retired from writing plays. After a long hospitalization with heart disease, she died the year after her husband's death.
