Military figure and politician. He was Commander of the 1st Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the war, Hajrulahović served in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He led the defense of Sarajevo during the siege of Sarajevo (1992-1995). He is the recipient of the war award BiH Order of the Gold Coat of Arms. He died during a visit to Hamburg, Germany on March 8, 1998. He was buried at Ali Pasha's Mosque cemetery in Sarajevo.
