Joseph immigrated to the US on the SS Eider and landed in the Port of New York on 22 August 1855 at the age of 16. (Donald Trump's grandfather immigrated to the US on the SS Eider that year in October at age 16.) In 1888 Joseph lived with his brother Bernard at 116 W 6th St. in Covington and worked as a tailor. He died of typhus at age 21.
