Nuclear disaster. On April 26, 1986 at 01:23:40 a.m number four reactor at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant located in the Soviet Union near Pripyat in Ukraine exploded. A monument located at Moscow's Mitino cemetery, is where some of the firefighters who battled the flames and later died of radiation exposure are buried.
