John F. "Johnny" Johnson of Beverly, passed on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the age of 96 at the Marcella Nursing and Convalescent Center in Burlington Township.
Mr. Johnson was born in Aiken, South Carolina and
also lived in New York City before retiring to Beverly. Mr. Johnson had worked as a train conductor for the New York Transit Authority. He was a member of Christ the King Episcopal Church in Willingboro. He had also been a member and deacon of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York. He loved traveling and listening to the music of Nat King Cole.
Husband of the late Mabel Johnson. He is survived by his daughters, Lydia Johnson of California, and Carol Diahann aka Diahann Carroll of California; a granddaughter, Suzanne K. Bamford and two great grandchildren in Europe, as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Danny Jackson of Delanco, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, March 12th at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 40 Charleston Road, Willingboro. Viewing will be at the church on Wednesday from 11 AM until services. Burial will be in the Faulk Cemetery, Bladenboro, North Carolina.
