Hobert Bennett, 97, of Green Mtn., passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 10, 2013.

He was the son of the late Roscoe and Rissie Riddle Bennett and was also preceded in death by a sister, Annie Tolley and brothers: Harold, Howard, S.J. and Ralph Bennett.

He was a member of the Bailey Brethren Church where he taught Sunday School.

Hobert retired from the Clinchfield Railroad.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Hazel Peterson Bennett; three daughters: Annie Woody and husband Donald of Burnsville, Myrtle Murray and husband Don of Marshall, NC and Rebecca Hudgins and husband Butler of Green Mtn.; two sons: Wilbert and Walter Bennett both of Green Mtn; sister, Margaret Mull of Morganton, NC; eight grandchildren, eleven great and four great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, September 12, 2013 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Murphy officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bennett Cemetery on Elvis Edwards Road.
