From the Nov. 19, 1914 Kiowa County News:

Mrs. Anna Scholten, aged 78 years, died at the home of her step-daughter, Mrs. Ferd Remmert, Friday Morning, Nov. 13th, after a brief illness. She was born at Rhineheim, Germany on May 18, 1836. She came to America at the age of 8 years and located with her parents at Herman MO, where she lived a number of years. About 25 years ago she located at Dallas TX and came at different times to live with Mrs. Remmert here. She leaves two step-daughters, Mrs. Remmert and Miss Millie Scholten, both of Lone Wolf, besides a number of nieces and nephews located in Oklahoma, Dallas TX and Los Angeles. Funeral services were conducted at the Remmert home Sunday, after which the remains were shipped to Mangum for burial.
