George C. Sommer.
__George C. Sommer, formerly of (1111) Third street SW, died in a Cedar Rapids hospital at 1:50 p.m. Sunday following a long illness. He was born March 1_, 1865, in Hesse, Germany, and came to this country at the age of six. Mr. Sommer was a resident of Cedar Rapids for 48 years and was a carpenter until his retirement in 1940.
__Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Katherine Schloss, Mrs. Minnie Lewis, Mrs. Marguerite Bishop, Mrs. Elizabeth Walcott, and Mrs. William Edmonds, all of Cedar Rapids; two sons, George Sommer, jr., of Sault Saint Marie, Mich., and William F. Sommer of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Mrs. Marguerite Leichsenring of South Amana, 31 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
__He was a member of Salem Evangelical United Brethren church and the Carpenters' local No. 308.
__Services will be conducted in Turner chapel at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. G. H. Eamford. Burial will be in Linwood cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
