Beatrice K. (Kessler) Piperberg, 82,departed this life for heavenly rest March 16, 2008, at Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Alan R. 'Skip' Piperberg.

Mrs. Piperberg was born on February 7, 1926, in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Edward and Irene (Klein) Kessler.

She was employed as a sales clerk in the furniture department at the former Montgomery Wards store at the York Mall for many years, retiring in 2001. Prior to that she worked as an interior decorator with the Bon Ton and the former Hochschild-Kohn Department Stores.

She was a member of Temple Beth Israel, where she had been a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She also was a member of the York Jewish Community Center and was a Master Knitter. At one time she was very active in the PTA at the former Heistand Elementary School in East York.

She leaves two daughters, Judy P. Kelsey of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Lisa P. Becker of Millersville, Md.; two sons, Dr. Joel B. Piperberg of Lancaster and David M. Piperberg of Orlando, Fla.; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Williams and Ruth Smotkin, both of York; a sister-in-law, Rhea Weinbrom of York; and many friends and neighbors in the Old East York area. She was predeceased by a brother, Sol Kessler.
