Benjamin had 13 children, 3 with his first wife Elizabeth (Norstrand) Wilson (one of whom died young) and 10 with his second wife Maria (Cashow) Wilson.

Benjamin Wilson served as a corporal with the 2nd militia regiment of Col. Daniel Bedell, Cpt Stephen Thorn's company during the War of 1812.

His father, Robert Wilson served as a Private in the Revolutionary War and his son, William Henry Wilson served as a Captain in the Civil War.

According to his 2nd eldest son Edward who was the administrator in Benjamin's Probate Record (testate), Benjamin died on or about the ninth of February 1846 in Oyster Bay, Queens County (now Nassau), New York.
