Ruth E. Swanson, age 83, of Rolling Prairie, formerly of Portage, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2001 at her home. She was born Oct. 4, 1918 in Hebron to the late Albert William Carl & Laura Anne (Thune) Koeppen and was a lifelong area resident. Ruth was currently a member of St. John Lutheran Church in LaPorte and former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hobart. Also a former member of the Business and Professional Woman in Portage and had been head cashier at the A&P for many years. She is survivied by two sons, Robert Swanson of Rolling Prairie and Duane (Carolyn) Swanson of Ft. Myers, FL. Preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Tottie" Swanson, a sister Dorothy (Koeppen) Swanson and niece, Ruth V. Johnson.
Funeral services Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Drive, Hobart, IN, Rev. Gary S. Nagy officiating. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
