John D. Clinkscales, 82, of LaGrange died Sunday, May 13, 2007 at West Georgia Medical Center.

Mr. Clinkscales was born February 11, 1925 in Talladega, AL, son of the late John W. Clinkscales and Norma Horn Clinkscales. He had lived in LaGrange for the past 45 years and was retired from Milliken and Company. Mr. Clinkscales was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square, Richard Shiver's Bible Class, and served as the church clerk. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during which time he served in World War II.

Mr. Clinkscales was preceded in death by his son, Kyle Clinkscales.

Mr. Clinkscales was a charter and board member of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, member of the National Association of Accountants, Troup Travelers Camping Club, National Camping Organization, and former member of the Optimist Club.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Davenport Clinkscales of LaGrange; sister, Sue Bradford of Talladega, AL; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at First Baptist Church on the Square with Dr. Paul Baxter and Reverend Tom Farr officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Clinkscales and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to a favorite charity in memory of Mr. John D. Clinkscales.
