E. Marjorie Aufforth was born on June 29, 1925 on a farm near Flaxton, 2 minutes before her sister Margaret, to Henry Strawbridge and Dorris ( Hillborn) Stawbridge. The family moved to Portal when the girls started school. Marge graduated from Portal High School. She attended Minot State Teachers College for a summer and started teaching in a country school near Bowbells. There she met her future husband John H. Aufforth. They were married at sunrise on Good Friday April 9, 1944.
Marjorie enjoyed gardening and putting up the produce. She was an avid bird watcher. She banded birds with some of the best-known ornithologists. She also enjoyed watching her family play ball. Marge also enjoyed hunting upland game with her husband John. She used her own 410 shotgun. In their retirement many hours were spent with their good friends, John & Vera Redmer, drinking coffee, going to auction sales or just driving around.
She left the farm and moved to Sr. Housing in Bowbells, where she made friends and enjoyed the Sr. Center. She spent time at the Kenmare Community Hospital, more recently she lived at Mountrail Bethel Home. Marge was a former member of the EUB church in Bowbells and a current member of Faith Baptist in Kenmare. While living in Bowbells she attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
