Clovis Strauss, age 89, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. at his residence in Arnaudville. Mr. Strauss was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. He was a self-employed farmer for 35 years. He was also a parishioner of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church.Survivors include his son, John Richard Strauss Sr. and his wife, Ella, of Arnaudville; a nephew, Joseph Alvin Strauss of Arnaudville; one granddaughter Shirley Strauss-Paul and her husband Donald, of Arnaudville; three great grandchildren, Ricky Julien and his wife, Alisha Nicole of Prairie Laurant, LA, Michelle Solomon and her husband, Joseph of Lafayette and Joseph Calvin Rivette, Jr. of Lafayette; four great, great, grandchildren; three step grandchildren, Deidra Jones of Lafayette, Patrick Jones of Arnaudville, and Kim Jones and her husband, Seneca of Opelousas; four step-great grandchildren; one brother, Vorris Strauss and his wife, Dorthey of Houston, TX; one sister, Cortea Williams of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena Roy Strauss; his parents, Joseph Cloplia Strauss and the former Nollie Collins; five brothers, George Strauss, Bernard Strauss, Felix Strauss, Paul Strauss, and Oscar Strauss; four sisters, Georgian Strauss, Lucille Strauss, Adophine Rosignon, and Victorine Williams; and one grandchild, John Richard Strauss Jr.Interment in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Grand Coteau.
