Damm, Alexander





Alexander Damm, 92, loving husband of Marjorie, passed away at home on April 21. Born in Lincoln on June 22, 1915, to parents Charlotte and Peter Damm, Alexander was a graduate of Lincoln High School and of the University of Nebraska in 1940. In 1942 he was commissioned a Naval Ensign, serving as a supply officer in Guam and Saipan and aboard the aircraft carrier Shangri La. Leaving Military service as a Lieutenant Commander in 1945, he returned to Kansas City, Missouri, to resume work as an accountant at Trans World Airlines. In 1953, he was promoted to an assistant to the Controller and moved to New York City, living with his family in New Canaan, Connecticut. In 1959 he became V.P. of Finance for Continental Airlines in Denver, Colorado. Continental moved its headquarters to Los Angeles in 1963 and Alexander lived in Beverly Hills the remainder of his life, retiring at age 65 as President and Chief Operating Officer of Continental in 1980. His sister Kathering, and brothers Peter and Harry, preceded him in death. His loving wife Marjorie, sons Larry and David, and four grandchildren survive him. Private funeral services will be at Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln, Nebraska. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A St., Lincoln, NE 68510.
