God called our beloved father, Pedro Tovar, Sr., 83, home to Heaven on Saturday, May 10, 2008 after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born October 19, 1924 in Laredo, Texas where he was raised and met his wife Ana Maria Rodriguez of 57 years. They moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1949 where they raised seven children. He was a WWII veteran having served with the Army Air Force and was a retiree from the United States Postal Service. Our father had a giving heart and was the first person to lend a hand to his family and friends.

Although we will grieve his absence here on earth, we celebrate his presence with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Our father was preceded in death by his wife, Ana Maria Tovar, his parents: Maria and Ventura Tovar, Sr., and six siblings: Desiderio Tovar, Daniel Tovar, Jose Tovar, Ventura Tovar, Jr., Juanita Mendez and Delia Linares.

He is survived by his seven children: Ana Maria "Babi" (Richard) Garcia of Brownsville, Texas, Sara (Robert) Slivkov of Calipatria CA., Mirta Raquel Tovar of Carlsbad CA., and Velma Guerra (Oscar Davila), Pedro (Hilda) Tovar, Jr., Teodoro (Elda) Tovar, Amelia "Amy" (George) Clark all of Corpus Christi, Texas; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Eloisa Collazo of Dallas, Texas.
