Norman D. "Mose" Cartwright, 91, of Vernon died at 1:45 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood.

Mr. Cartwright was a custodian at Vernon Elementary and Vernon High Schools, retiring as head custodian Nov. 15, 1951, after 28 years. (??) Prior to working at the schools, he was employed at Vernon Summer Furniture Factory. Mr. Cartwright was a member and former deacon at Vernon Baptist Church, and a member of Retired Teachers Association. He enjoyed walking and gardening, especially growing primroses.

The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Galloway officiating. Calling is from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Vernon High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.

Born December 11, 1913, in Vernon, Mr. Cartwright was the son of Robert Morton and Catherine Margaret Trowbridge Cartwright. He married Edith May Gault on October 3, 1970, in Vernon.

Surviving with his wife is a sister-in-law, Lethia Cartwright of Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Stanton Cartwright, Haskell Cartwright, Collin Cartwright, Hanley Cartwright and Malcomb Cartwright; and sisters, Ethel Cartwright, Matle Johnson, Ora Fry and an infant sister.
